Libya’s Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces, Saddam Khalifa Haftar, has formally referred a draft law to the House of Representatives aimed at amending the salary scale for members of the armed forces, in response to mounting economic pressures and rising living costs.

The proposed legislation seeks to improve the living conditions of military personnel and their families, particularly in light of long-standing salary stagnation and increased prices of goods and services. The draft law includes a 150% salary increase for the families of fallen soldiers, as well as prisoners, missing personnel, and those wounded in combat operations, as part of broader efforts to enhance social stability within the military institution.
